Prague was not only one of Europe’s most beautiful cities — during World War II it became a city under occupation.
WWII in Prague – Monday Edition is a compact historical walking tour exploring the dramatic years of Nazi rule, the rise of the resistance movement, and the story of Operation Anthropoid.
We begin in front of the iconic Powder Tower, where the story of the First Czechoslovak Republic and its collapse unfolds. From there, we walk through the Old Town, uncovering how repression, fear, and courage shaped everyday life in Prague between 1939 and 1945
During the tour, we enter the underground spaces at U Kunštátu, where the atmosphere of secrecy and resistance helps bring the story to life. Here, we explore the planning of Operation Anthropoid, the decision to target Reinhard Heydrich, and the risks taken by those who chose to resist.
As we move toward the final stop, the tension builds. The tour concludes in front of the historic Saints Cyril and Methodius Cathedral, where the final stand of the Czechoslovak paratroopers took place in June 1942.
On Mondays, the cathedral crypt interior is closed to visitors. This edition therefore concludes outside the cathedral, where the full story of the battle and its legacy is explained.
